How have you changed since you first registered on PH?

My thread in Readers Cars about my Rover P6 got me thinking after a comment from a PH'er who has known me for the time I've been on here - how have you changed since you started coming on here?

I was 17 when I joined and a bit clueless but loved driving ... fast! Since then, I'm now 22 with a budding classic car collection and no desire to own anything properly "fast" not for the roads anyway! (Don't want to lose my licence). I've grown up on here - gone from being a teenager - at parents buying silly cars like Boxster S's at 18 while still living at mum and dads to a 22 year old with my own business, living with my partner who I met through cars and owning 4 classics.

When I came on here I hated Porsches and wanted a TVR ... I've since had lots of Porsches and no TVRs! Nor am I bothered about owning one ...

Five years ago the Midlands region was very active it's not so now
Five years ago this was more TVR than anything
Five years ago I believe this place wasn't owned by a large corporation
Five years ago I didn't have a clue, today I don't pay to have work done on my cars - I do it!

Whats changed throughout your PH journey?

It feels a lot bigger than it used to and I do wish that the Midlands region did some organised drive outs like there was but heyho, nostalgia ain't want it once was, as they say...!

When I first started I had no idea how important spelling was in the amazement of 'Internet wars'.

I've now had respect for most cars, whether I like them or not. I've learned that 'fun' is far better than 'fast'.

I now have a 2:1 in a degree I didn't want to do and my urges for a performance car have since exploded and subsequently died off a bit

When I joined PH I owned an MX5, I sold it and bought another MX5 in the same colour. Nothing much has changed for me since joining.

If anything I now do far less work on my cars and don't even wash them myself, I've got older and lazier and care less about how the car looks and the parking scratches because there is not a lot I can do about it. That might be an age thing and unrelated to PH though.

I guess it depends on the time you have, but if you want something like that then just organise it yourself, or with a few other people you know! Someone needs to do it, or they'll never happen.

Yeap, same here,

Also got a normal degree and a MSc, moved to Norway and have started working. Bought my first car, which many people here have commented on due to it being impractical for a lot of the year, but so far I've been enjoying it. I've probably become a bit more sensible with money too.
