Hi There,

Revising for my Physics A-Levels, and I cannot remember the order of the various types of waves from longest to shortest. It goes:

Radio
Microwaves
Infared
Visible
Ultraviolet
X-Rays
Gamma

If anyone can think of an amusing acrostic to remember RMIVUXG, it would be appreciated!

Cheers

Microwaves
Infared
Visible
Ultraviolet
X-Rays

Great word "acrostic", never seen it before. Always used mnemonic in the past.

I remembered A-level physics being harder than this though. Is this for your AS?

Try a pictorial mnemonic:

Radio > Microwave > TV Remote > Lightbulb > UV Lamp > X-Ray Machine > Gamma Ray Gun

Place them in a 'room' or on a 'shelf' in your mind. Visualise and look around the room or along the shelf in order to remember them.
