To be fair, it's a tad more respectful than wearing a tartan skirt with your knob on display swinging like a metronome. If there's only these two options, jeans are a good shout.

So long as it's clean, wear what you like; I very much doubt that the happy couple will give a stuff and the local 'black tie' style vultures won't be there.

I guess it depends on how relaxed the Wedding Dance is - for example, I've been to one which was held in a village hall where most people were wearing jeans and so on, whilst I've been to one which was held in a Golf club which had a dress code.....
