Any Airsoft skirmish players or enthusiasts in the house?
Discussion
As the title really.
I have never played in my life and really fancy a go at it. I popped into Wolf armouries a few weeks back that I found off the internet to have a look around, see whats what and have a good chat to the guys at the shop. From what I understand they are not the cheapest but they do have a hell of a lot of stock
Looks alot less painful then paintballing (which I played a few times a few years ago) and alot more realistic were you have to deploy tactics and have different roles etc...
I am based in NW London and i hope to go to my first skirmish night at bunker 51 on the 22 Oct.
http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk/airsoft/bb/gun.asp?...
After getting a few games under my belt will maybe look into buying a few bits of kit myself.
Just wondering if anyone could give me a few more pointed or give me a heads up to any other good localish games/shops.
Thanks in advance.

Don't play so much nowadays, but have a look over at www.arniesairsoft.co.uk
Theres a wealth of info over there. Lot of site and kit reviews as well to keep you going.
BTW you'll probly get more response in the P&P, probably be moving anyway in 5...4...

Yeah my mistake wrong section...

I play fairly regularly.
As you've said, Wolf Armouries are more expensive than most other UK shops (airsoft armoury, fire-support, land warrior airsoft etc) but the benefits of having a physical shop is something i would dearly love, alas, none of them around here (norfolk).
Great fun, best advice is to get stuck in and go for it. Most players are friendly enough and wont mind questions about their kit/guns etc provided you're polite about it - dont just go up and start hefting somebody elses gun.
As above, get yourself on the forums at www.arniesairsoft.co.uk and have a browse around.

I used to play it in secondary school on my friends farm, wasn't too serious but still a million times more fun than call of duty or whatever. Preferred it to paintballing too, ammo costs less and it definitely hurts less if you wear clothing that covers your arms legs hands and face, but you still don't much want to be hit.
Like 8 of us had hand guns(I had a smith and wesson I was very proud of), and it was all fun and games until someone got a gas powered M-16 for christmas, and a lifetime supply of the heavy duty bullets, at that point you were either on his team, or spent your weekends endlessly being smashed as 'the bad guys'.
Once we strayed off his land onto the road, and there just happened to be a police car coming up the lane watching the 8 of us, big lads in camo with real looking guns, they bricked it a bit until they saw us all politely stop and move to the side of the road, at which point we got a sharp talking to and went home.
These days you have to be careful given all the paranoia over replica guns and such, otherwise its a hoot if you have mates who will give it a shot too.
Don't forget decent goggles too, even if you are just messing around.

Just been looking on the website www.arniesairsoft.co.uk that is. Looks like an abundant amount of info and links and good place to start. Will get signed onto the forum. Are you on there much?
I am a keen clay pigeon shooter so will be sure to deploy common sense and safety at all times when playing and asking about peoples kit etc...
whats it like playing for the first time? am i going to be in for a shock?

Its cool, they have new players there all the time. Its a world apart from woodland, there's nothing like defending BHS from behind the customer service desk...
I used to play quite a bit, i've played different sites from Woods to Armoured Bunkers.
I had an M4 Carbine as my main gun, i upgraded the batteries and it was a mean weapon.
You might think it doesn't hurt as much as paint ball but believe me it does. Whereas you might have one paintball hit you, if someone with an automatic rifle shoots you, not only do you get hit by the first BB but the 10 or so that are following close behind. They hit your knuckles, finger tips, tips of your ears etc etc.
The best place i played was UCAP in Portsmouth, old bunkers in the cliff that was used to plan the D-Day landings. Awesome experience if you use tracer fire.

Used to airsoft at ground zero at Ground Zero in Bournemouth - really good fun but you would get a few people taking it a bit too seriously...
Much more fun than paintballing - a massive array of proper guns (I used to run a solid stock MP5 and Glock side arm), no where near as painful, and the choice to wear a pair of goggles that don't steam up the instant you put them on like paintball masks meaning you can actually see what you are doing.
I also found that the mentality at an airsoft game was much more interesting - people actually working together to acheive an objective rather that paintballing which I have always found to be a stag do mentality - run around aimlessly like nutters! The events I used to play at would have a set of objectives that would last all day as opposed to the 'mini games' at paintball sites.
