Unless you are a massive gaylord.

or are in a prison for massive gaylords, and you're on suicide watch, and they won't let you have a proper razor

i bought (my first) a rechargeable shaver a few years back. after 25 or so years of wet shaving i wanted something quicker and more convenient so bought a phillips phillishave.

i can't say its the best as i've not used anything else, but works for me.

I didn't get on with a Philishave but I did get on with a Braun 3 series wet and dry shaver. I'd either get one of those or if you can afford a 7 series get that one.

I'd hold off until the new 4 series comes out...

Best shave by a long way comes from 89p four-packs of disposables from Morrisons. I've tried electric shavers (last one cost £160-ish, ineffective and painful), straight razor (barely preferable to fighting a lion using only your face) and an outrageously expensive 'real' bladed razor (great for prison fights or as a paperweight). I just wish I'd not been such a snob and gone with the disposables from the off.

Any phillishave will do the trick. Cheaper the better.

Don't wetshave as it isn't very kind to the skin. 99.99% of all shave area rashes/infections are wet/blade shavers

yes I use the cheap-arsed dual-blade ones from Wilkinsons (they are about £2.99 for the handle and 10 blade refills).

Panasonic. Might seem like an odd brand to choose but trust I they are the best. All the rest are ste in comparison.

If you use the latest Gillette Mach 12 Wilkinsonsword Sensor Excell Turbo III perhaps.

Learn the correct technique with a DE safety razor and you get none of that.

I don't think there's a blanket do or don't; it's how your skin responds to the cut and that's unique to you.

I've tried several of both types of electric shaver over the years. Am currently using a 9-series Philishave (three rotating heads) and it's about as good as it gets. For me!

I bought one for £35 years ago and didn't get on with it. I like the idea of an electric as I work away a lot and go camping a lot. I bought one of the ones with the Nivea shaving balm things for £100, down from £200 in the laminated book of dreams. It is okay but I wouldn't bother given the choice again - I'd stick with wet.

With the Nivea ones, you do not have to use the proper refills - if you pop the bottom off the old refill, you can refill it with cheapo stuff.

I have a Braun one that cost about £140ish last year but they are cheaper now, very good but i have discovered that it is something that should not be used for all shaves, at least once a week, most weeks twice i still wet shave (tesco value disposables). This suits me best, but if my lodger wet shaves then he looks like he has smallpox the next day so he uses a phillips rotary thing.

The main differences i can see are that mine stays charged for a lot longer and that i can shave in about 1/3 of the time he can with it.

Ditto, go for a Panasonic one with the high rpm shaft drive, RPM matters even with shavers !

Mine will remove a 2 week beard if need be & over 3 years on I havent even needed to replace a foil or cutter.

This current one is similar to my one as it has the 13k rpm motor

or this cheaper one
