Moving to USA but which State of 5 to choose from?

Right, we are on the move again!

My OH has accepted a job offer in America and she has to choose where she would like to work, so we are faced with the following choice:

New York
New Jersey
North Carolina
Pennsylvania
Maryland

I have never been to America and Dee has only been to California.

The other thing we have to factor is quality of life, she will be paid $70k.
I don't know how long it will take for me to find work.

We need to decide by tomorrow and we will be moving in July

Please help guys

If it was me, i would go for maryland, but only because of all the naval yards near by, and i like watching big ships going past

Surely it depends whereabouts, their States can be pretty big!

Do you want to live in a apartment in the heart of Manhattan, or would you prefer to live somewhere more rural?

Just out of interest, what visa will you and your wife be entering on?

Depends on the visa they're getting her. You might not be able to.

NYstate or Pennsylvania. Both very good. Just beware that NY state is expensive with regards to State Tax.

As has been said, if your wife (assuming she is your wife?) is here on a temporary work visa (H1B) and you are tagging along on an H4 it's unlikely you will be allowed to work at all. Before you make any decisions I would check that out. A $70k salary won't go far supporting 2 of you if you want to actually live.
