Boyn Hill area not bad at all. Sorry, no idea what the rents are.

3 bed house with garage for under £950 a month? Try Bradford.

I was about to tear into that too, but I held back because it is so utterly cretinous/tedious/humourless that I assumed it must have actually been a genuine question about something I wasn't party to. It doesn't seem possible that he thought it might be funny to say "MX5" as an anwer to the OP. Not possible.

I believe, ironically, that is where he's moving from (although he charmingly refers to it as "near Leeds" to throw us off the scent) wink

I appear to have messed up the quoting.

My apologies.

If you want three bedrooms and a garage in Maidenhead you're probably looking at more like £1200pm minimum. To my knowledge there aren't any particularly nasty areas, the nicest area in my opinion would be anywhere along the river but you'll pay a premium for this!

Maidenhead and the entire surrounding area isn't cheap. If you can't up your budget High Wycombe is much cheaper, Cippenham (near Slough) is another option. Neither are very nice though!

At that price you are looking at Bracknell I think.

Or are we talking about buying at 800k to 950k, in which case, fill yer boots.

£1100 - 1250 are the headline rents for 3 beds in maidenhead, although there is scope for negotiation in the current market. There are no "bad" areas of maidenhead but Pinkneys Green and Furze Platt are favoured for schools. You may find that your choice is determined by where the properties are - there can't be that many for rent in M'head. Have a look also at Cookham and Bourne End, and consider places along the train line to maidenhead eg Twyford. Avoid places that are marketed as Burnham - they are usually in Sluff at that price.

Depends what you need out of the town -

If you need to be near the station, the town centre, the countryside, the river, the M4/A404/M40, all affects where you will end up living.

As above posters say the Boyn Hill/College/River areas are nice, and it's not all expensive victorian houses, certain developments will have family houses, though perhaps not at the price you want. Avoid the bomber estate (street names: Halifax, Wellington, Lancaster etc), and Clare road, and the Furze Platt/Cordwallis areas. I don't really like Cox Green or Woodlands Park as it's too far out and rabbit warreny but it's cheap, edge of town living close to the motorway with modern-ish houses with garages.

Cookham, Cookham Dean & Pinkneys Green have some very pleasant bits.

The schools are generally all good.

It's a nice place to live - mostly because it's near lots of nice places and easy to get farther afield by car and train, rather than being a great place in itself. Town center is functional, but not overly attractive.

PM if you need any specifics.
