Anyway, my grandad recently passed away and I have been left with the task of clearing out his stuff. I came across this and I was wondering if any of you knew what this was? I have a good idea but I'm not 100%

That's what I was thinking too chum
Never seen one like that before though, any I have seen have usually been small circular boxes and they haven't had the spoon thing in them.
Is it worth anything? It's made of brass so I'd assume so. I have no intention of selling it as it was my grandads but it would be nice to know what it's worth.

It is a Lee Enfield rifle oiler used by the English army in one form or another for the best part of 100 years market value about £10. If I had got it in the same way as you £10000000000000000000000000000 or more

Apparantly, mine is a Mk4, produced between 1906 and 1950.
There's a hallmark on the bottom, ESS, if that means anything to anyone?
