Right, the mrs is about to pop and we don't have an official name for the forthcoming arrival... (we don't know what sex it is either, and have a girl called Abigail)

So far we have:

BOY
Arthur (My Favorite)
Dexter (Mrs DT's Favorite)
Archie
Jacob

GIRLS
Hannah
Emma
Eve
Lucy

Anyone like these or have any other suggestions to work into there?

Archie is a very 'now' name, seems to be very fashionable currently. But will it go out of fashion in a few years? In my opinion i think it has enough backbone to last the seasons as well as being a very strong name that echoes confidence when spoken. That's be my choice.

Im no good at girls names but i do like good timeless names like Claire, Emma, Lisa etc.

On a serious note my fab name for a girl is Amelia. Shortened to milly. That's what my first lil girl will be called. Hopefully no time soon tho

Good luck and enjoy all the memorable times ahead.

Our daughter is called Morgan.
One reason was that we didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl and Morgan could would for either.
As I am a teacher name choosing is a total nightmare as a lot of names are associated with some of the more unpleasant kids I had to teach.
Also we would both love a Morgan of the engined variety.

Rupert for a boy, or Jacob is nice.

Lexi or Lily is nice for a girl.

Thanks all, because of where I work and my wife being a nursery nurse we tend to associate names with work people so it's a tough one...

Stirling, nearly used it for our boy, if we had realised at the time he was born on Moss's birthday it may have swung it! biggrin

Father-in-Law had a friend called Tudor, pretty rare, our friends are on their 3rd baby and 'the bump' has always been called Tudor but they have never had the nerve to actually call the baby it.

So here is your opportunity to steal their thunder biggrin

He also had a friend called Jesus, that caused quite a stir when at uni him and a mate were waiting for him to arrive on a train and the platform guard asked what they were doing and they of course replied "Waiting for Jesus".

My boy is Jacob and his sister is Hannah so I'm a bit biased.
Think about how the names work with your surname.

I think dexter sounds like a puppy..

They need to pass the regal test and fail the asda test.

Regal: If you can imagine a title in front of the name, that's good.

Asda: If you can imagine 'you little caaaaaant' after the name that's bad.

Amelia is versatile in that it can be shortened in a number of different ways ( as well as Milly, you could be an Amy/ Ami ....)

what i do find odd is those parents who give their offspring a diminutive as their given name rather than giving the proper name for 'Sunday best' and using the diminutive ...

Isn't Dexter a fictional serial killer?

I found it very hard to think of a boys name I liked for my son. My girlfriend wanted to call him Marley, but that's a surname. Or a dog's name. Girls names are easy in comparison; all those you list, OP, are great.

The mrs wanted to call our boy Lincoln but I was non so impressed! So we went for Miles. For a girl it was going to be Marley although I do like Amelia too as my grandmother was called it.
