Firstly, this is more to just get it off my chest, I know I've been stupid...

I married for 10 years, very happily and my wife is my best friend and we have a really great time together, i've never thought of straying and never will, but in the last few days I have been reallly stupid.

I moved jobs a few months back, since then I've not really been in touch with anyone there. A few days ago I sent a few emails to people I enjoyed working with and caught up with a few of them by email. There was a woman there who I always had a laugh with and we picked up where we left off on email.

However it became clear she was interested in more, and I have to admit to being very flattered. We continued to chat and and it got very VERY overt for a while. We both know nothing would ever happen, we'll probably never even meet again since I left, but it was exciting to be wanted by someone, but I encouraged it.

However now I can't get her out of my head, I plan to cut off comms as much as possible. However it's already effecting my relationship with my wife. As sad as I sound I feel hugely guilty, so much so that I rejected her advances yesterday as I felt it wouldn't be fair to her.

I guess it'll just take time to get my head over doing something so stupid and selfish, I know I've been a muppet but just needed to get it off my chest....

You won't be the first person - male or female - to find someone other than your sexually attractive. It's how you handle it that matters.

Flattery, in this case someone else thinking you sexually attractive, is a very pleasant and powerful experience.

Nothing more than a little 'platonic' flirting (if that's not an oxymoron). You still love your wife very much so don't let this guilt trip of yours destroy the relationship. Forget it and move on.

Wishing you well

You seem like a very normal person to me judging by your post. Just give yourself a few slaps and while doing so consider what you already have.

P.s. A weekend away with your good woman, maybe just the ticket.

This is why marriage and only having one partner is silly. its not in the male nature at all, we are designed to have sex with as many women as possible and they are designed to to raise any children that might come from it,i let all my women know this from the start and i still get plenty of them and they are very happy all of them.

even if what you say is true, I wouldn't consider that being a serious relationship.

Don't risk f*****g up what you already have.

I thought that my first marriage was awful, split up and really messed things up.

It's only after you bugger things up that you realise that things weren't as bad as you may have thought - and that the grass isn't greener after all.

+1
Indeed...
We are also 'designed' to have a flight or fight response, which is generally neither helpful or constructive in modern life.
To the op, it sounds like you already know what you need to do.
Start a 'what car' thread.

I bet you are the one who puts the salt on the fries in MaDs and she wants your job.
Don't be flattered mate, be very aware and look after your job.

If your post is real, take your skirt off and stop being a girl and have them both, then tell your wife to clean the mess up after making yer dinner.

Right, OP, so nothing has happened, nor will it ever happen? So what are you freaking out about? You're a bloke, we get horny. You're managing to keep it in your pants so forget it. Cut comms and move along.

Buy a motorbike / sportscar / speedboat... WHATEVER it takes.. all of these will be cheaper and more fun than a divorce.

Put the laptop down and walk away from the email!!

Having frisky thoughts is one thing. Following through with them is quite another- and you didn't.

It's easy to be faithful when you're not tempted. Staying faithful when you are is highly commendable, so good on you, OP.

That wouldn't help, but would just give them a excuse.

Just having them is enough. Something to do with "So you would rather kill yourself than be with me, huh?" mentality.
Women either like them, or hate them. Sadly, there are a lot less of sort 1.

Women prefer cars. Cars are "safe".
