Spelling and PistonHeads.

I'm no mastermind when it comes to use of the written word but i do enjoy reading a well written, well constructed piece of literature. I am also the first to admit (so i don't get beaten down for this piece) that my own entries on here might be less than exemplary when compared to some of the more senior, better educated members of the PH crowd. However, i really do despair reading some of the drivel coming from newer / younger members of the clan, with reference mainly to spelling, grammar and general use of 'text speak'. Does anyone else here feel offended by the sight of this low grade communication? Too many u's, gr8's, wuz's and innit's for my liking. Is PH dumbing down? Is it just a sign of the times that we need to get used to?

PH is now more popular.
As a result many people just sign up and post, younger people are accustomed to the lack of grammar expected by others on facebook, via text messages and by GCSE English exams.
It is mainly a lack of awareness about how important the written word is and a lack of attention to detail rather than thick people in many cases though.

It is lowest common denominator communication, and sadly prevalent across most of the web.
The only refuge from such ignorant communication is on here, and I am SO grateful for the oasis of professional discussion (and the lack of hundreds of ridiculous graphics and 'signatures').
So most 'ignoramii' get short shrift when they appear here, and rightly so. However, someone who at least attempts to do the right thing is fine with me - the odd error is perfectly acceptable, after all, we are all human, and besides, posting via a smartphone as I am now, sometimes causes unintentional mistakes.

Pleased to see someone in printing who's not a moron. There's a taxi company around here called - according to the side of its cars - Arrow Taxi's. I lose a little faith in humanity whenever one drives past.

I can't remember exactly what it was, but there was an horrendous literal error in the bold text - not even hidden away in the small print.
I rang the company and explained the error, and that we could amend the mistake for £20 for them, or alternatively they could re-supply the PDF file themselves.
The answer? 'Meh, leave it - our clients won't notice or care less!'
And that, gentlemen, is the state of our country today!
