Do a bit of airsoft, sometimes people get a bit carried away with all the combat gear and therefore sometimes can't feel a hit, however head shots sort that out.
Range is dependent on the gun in use, some use a hop-up feature that spins the round bb in a particular way so it maintains high, effective range of my friends M4 battery operated airsoft rifle is 60 yards.
The main I like airsoft is cost, 10,000 rounds for 8 pounds...

It's a bit like LARP (look it up if you don't know) in that most people who do it take it far too seriously and dress up like this, looking a bit silly:
Usually two teams (from memory) and everyone runs about in the woods with one team trying to get to a particular point etc.

They don't. People clearly just lie and ignore getting hit and as there's no way of proving anything the entire experience is flawed and really frustrating.I went twice and couldn't get into it at all, it's taken far too seriously by most of the hardcore people (all shouted instructions and smoke tactics etc) and if you really want to enjoy it then it can be pretty expensive (you eat through bullets and can waste money on flashbangs and smokes).
Don't bother, just get a copy of counter-strike for your pc

It is a whole lot of fun, but there are those who take it far too seriously. Its not so much the people who get all dressed up in full (really expensive) gear so much, its the people who treat it as a real operation, with a chain of command and tactics. Some of the most elite teams even have an army style selection process, and most of the team players are ex forces/SF.
like most hobbies, it can be done for a laugh on the cheap, or you can take it as seriously as you want.

ked your analasys. Its a good bit of exercise and great fun, although most of the other players take it very seriously and do come from the internet.

Im a shooting man and have been raised around guns (shotguns and rifles) but have no time for airsoft. The whole premise is just a bit too uncomfortable. If you want to dress in camo gear and pretend to be soldiers then join the Armed Forces.

I did twice attend larger meetings, one at caterick fibua, and one at some dilapidated eco farm I can't remember the name of. Both of these were just full of fat geeky blokes, though it was still very fun. Caterick fibua is quite an experience with all the sound effects etc.
Anyhow, most of the other times I have been out, it has been about 25% serving forces or TA, 35% ex-forces and the rest just average blokes/girls. These events have all been out in the woods/moors in north wales, bloody cold and dark, but great fun. In this kind of event with a max of 20/30 people, people do 'take' the hits, and you don't get cheating.
The team I was in had some training from some paratroopers which was really awesome, great to learn proper tactics, and apply them to a game like this. It did make us quite a bit more effective when we went to the larger games as well, it did suprise me quite how well our forces tactics work!
The forces guys who did it likened the experience of airsoft as quite like the training they had been through rather than any actual real situation which is as you would expect, but for me, to know you are out in 100 acres of moorland and forest in a large team up against half a dozen serving/ex forces is bloody mental.

Was Friars Walk right opposite the stationI grew up in Reading, and only ever went into that mall once. Reading Festival was on, and it was the only place with a clean toilet to wash up in. We then discovered an old Chupa Chup machine that dispensed at 5p, and emptied it, selling them for 20p back at the Festival.
