Sorry, not car related but...

I've been subjected to 'death by powerpoint' today. I scratched my cheek and noticed that within 20 seconds four others had done similar.

For the next half hour I started various waves of moving in the chair, twiddling pens etc. Half the people follow suit without realising.

There's another day of it tomorrow, does anyone have any other 'death by powerpoint' survival tips that I can use tomorrow?

Yes, I have this 'old school' game called paying attention and doing what I'm paid to do. rolleyes

It's quite difficult but the prizes for winning are better.

Is it all presentation or can you input?

Try starting a topic, getting half way through and changing the subject completely and quickly reverting back to topic to see if anyone notices.

i.e
"...the graphs, figures, last months review so on and so forth I just bought a hamster all show we are working above target..."

Quite right - I'm sure I've got the card somewhere!

Or put the biscuits next to a selected participant and bet on how many he'll eat.

Bingo ... Get together with other people on the course each write a list of say 10 "buzz" words that's topical to course.

Place lists in hat and each draw out a different list. As the presenter is going through strike out words that are said or appear on screen... The winner obviously has to stand up an shout bingo (normally timed with a worthy insightful comment about said slide/comment).

Then he/she gets away without buying a round that evening, lunch or whatever.

I like the bingo thing.

The presentations are really a one way flow of over detailed information.

We used to do similar at my previous job. Morning briefings and different managers had different catch phrases. I don't know if they where aware they where saying them, but we'd bet on how many times Mr Constructive Conversation would say that. Winner gets a mars bar.

Or as I would put it, masses of data but very little useful information.

Some people are apparently lucky in not having colleagues who seem to like the sound of their own voice or see it as a challenge as to how much "info" they can squeeze onto a single powerpoint slide.

If you and your colleagues have the luxury of laptops in a meeting then emailing each other jokes to see if you can get someone to laugh can be entertaining. This is actually less discourteous than those who turn up to meetings and quite obviously beaver away at another unrelated task on a laptop, completely ignoring the presenter or meeting chair.

Though meeting Bingo does show a certain level of premeditation about it !
