Jerrycans - please ready your 'Cool Story Bro' pics now
Discussion
All this talk of jerrycans and fire hazards and whatnot made me have a look at Wikipedia. Obviously, Jerrycans is a pejorative term for the German designed 'Wehrmachtskanister' - it's a WW2 design copied the world over. That design on the side strengthens the steel and allows for expansion (clever) and the three handles thing is also a natty bit of design.
It's such a good bit of design, that everyone in the world nicked it.
I have 2 questions:
1. Is this the only design from the Nazis still in use, and
2. How much is it safe to store in my garage? I have 3 of these and was planning on filling 'em.
More interested in #1 really.

Legally you can store two 10 litre metal containers (20 litres total) or two 5 litre plastic containers (10 litres total). A proper jerrycan full of fuel is therefore not legal to store in a domestic situation.KrazyIvan said:
Why you looking to fill up 3 cans, are you planning an African Safari any time soon?
A mate of mine got so cross after spending 30 minutes at a petrol station, he set off a mahoosive rant on a messageboard that I believe undoubtedly raised his blood pressure.I'm keen to avoid that.

Waits for inevitable amusing VW Beetle/911 picture.
Hmmm. Poor old Dr Porsche eh? I have a 911, and used to have a beetle. They aren't the same. You are also fitting into the "All 911 owners are exceptionally defensive of their purchase" stereotype BTW.
