1,054 words per minute (322%), but that's based on work report style reading as opposed to reading for enjoyment. I certainly wouldn't read a novel at that sort of speed.

I often find that I'm sitting there waiting for others to finish when something is dished out to a group at work. Speed, or scan, reading is something that some are naturally better at than others but it can be learnt to a certain extent.
