Local Thugs - The Belt
Discussion
Hi All,
44 now and the only thing any boy in school ages with me feared was the belt.
Have had two separate encounters with some feral scum youth and can say with hand on heart these same people would not have turned out the same had the PC brigade not got their way.
Every teacher had a reputation and of course you knew what you could get away with depending who the teacher was.
6 of the belt from Mr. Dick (History) was severe. No repeat offending.
I despise the PC brigade and wish fire on all their non-earned benefits.
Dougie.

I despise those who equate discipline with violence/physical pain. My parents and teachers managed just fine without it and in fact I would go so far as to say that by instilling respect for authority rather than fear I turned out for the better.
This. I went to school post corporal punishment (just), and strong teaching and strong parenting kept me in line.Though I understand where the OP is coming from.

It wasn't like this in my day... Except it was. We had the ruler, and the s44 now and the only thing any boy in school ages with me feared was the belt.

tty kids were the ones always getting the ruler, and the good kids were the kids who did not. Kids have been little b
ds since day one. I blame the parents, school has a huge influence with the young but I feel the parents are more to blame of they let their kids run riot.
After brining up my kids and seeing how others have done the same I can understand how once kids get older they don't respect their parents and thus their parents cannot control then.
Or something like that

We had Mr B. I think a former Royal Marine and rugger bugger. Even the leftie teachers opposed to voilence and more prone to negotiation with little s
ts would crack now and then.
We had this utter scum kid come to our school. Vile sod who I think had been in some sort of "unit" for little s
ts. One day he pushed our lefty beardy CND badge wearing teacher a tad too far. He got one of us to go for Mr B. He duly arrived, took the kid to the training shed. Kid returns 10 minutes later in tears, sits at his desk and behaves for the rest of his time at school.
Nobody knows what went on in the shed that afternoon.
My theory - the kid was an actor paid by Mr B. He gave him 50 notes, they had a cuppa then the kid actor turned on the tears and returned to the class. Mr B's reputation as the most feared teacher in the county was inact for another year.
Add to say, I ended working with a guy who was a mate of Mr B. I ended up going for a beer with the pair of them. Mr B - long retired - was actually quite a nice bloke.

I went to a secondary Modern school near Manchester in the mid 60's and if you forgot your homework you would normally get six (HARD) strokes of the cane...3 on each hand, which would in some cases produce large weales or even draw blood. The cane was kept in linseed oil behind the teacher's desk to keep it in "optimum" condition. This was quite normal back then...bear in mind this was a normal state school, not a public one where they flogged you etc.
