bought an item on ebay last night and got it for £57

I had a price of £100 as top bid and got it for a fifth of it's new price

the seller then emailed me this afternoon saying that the item was 'collection only'

even though it said 'Free P&P' on the listing

he went on to say that he had hoped for a lot more for it and would relist it

I have told him that if he sells an item then it is in breach of ebay rules to not allow payment or send the item

anyone know any curve ball i could hit him with?

really wanted the item at a bargain price

I bought a golf club some years ago that I got for a fair price, it turned out to be a very poor fake. I contacted the eBay disputes team who saw it in my favour. PS, anyone want to buy a Ping G5 3-wood wink

He can just say he's lost it/broken it etc. Nothing you can do.
If you agree to cancel they get their fees back, if not they still pay the EBay fees

That's a pretty crummy thing to do.

This.

Or call his bluff and say you'll collect it and see what he says.

What is the item?

If it is such a bargain, why not pay for the postage.

What's your eBay member name, any help avoiding tts from a PH member is always helpful.

Your use of "usually" indicates you often fob buyers off. I put it to you, sir, that you're one of those people who starts everything at 99p to get a free listing then refuses to honour a sale if it doesn't go to your liking.

In fairness it happens all the time & is within Ebays own rules (seller can cancel sale due to 'alleged' loss of item/broken item/sold elsewhere!). Not worth losing any sleep over it!

Yeap, I'd agree with that. Many times have I been watching or bidding on items that end within the final hour early because they're too cheap. That's eBay for you.

I used eBay a few times, over a period of 4 years.

I honestly can't understand how it still exists!

You have to be very careful with selling on ebay. When you first list your item it comes up with free delivery. Ive been court with that one when selling and i didn't realize. It can be easily mist.
