A simple yes or no poll as I'm contemplating wearing one today as it's a bit nippy out despite the sun shining.

I'm also wearing jeans, as my missus says it's quite fashionable to wear a tweed jacket with jeans. confused

I don't but I wouldn't be averse to it if I had one.

I must be walking around with my eyes closed as I can not recall a time that I have ever seen someone wearing one outside of my tv screen.

My last workplace had gamekeepers who dressed in full traditional gear - tweed everywhere.
Very D.H. Lawrence.
Very aesthetically pleasing. wink

No I don't but I have a hankering for a good tweed jacket, problem is they aren't cheap so you need to get some good usage out of them.

She is correct, many of the large fashion houses showing tweed for autumn/ winter 2012. And yes I have spent quite a bit of time in waiting rooms recently without any car mags on offer!

The industry I work in is awash with tweed, something which the EU need to legislate against.

I often wear a tweed jacket and black jeans, I think it looks good, but then I am in my '50s, and about as far removed from a style icon as it's possible to be.

OP it says you have a Civic Type R..... So no you can't wear tweed!

If you own a Laborador/Springer and a shotgun you can wear tweed.

If you're one of those grotty public school wannabe pricks at the Burghley horse trials hanging around the Dubarry tent guffawing at each other then no you can't wear tweed either, you're ruining it!

If you own some land you may also wear some tweed depending on the amount of land and its usage.

Basic tweed rules there ^^ wink

1. I drive an old estate car.
2. I don't presently own land but will inherit a decent chunk of farming land when my mother goes.
3. I own a shotgun.
4. I only went to a grammar school.
5. I hate horses.
6. I have a dog. Although she's a Staffordshire Bull Terrier...

Where am I on the R300will Tweed Scale?

Presumably context is a little important here?

If you live somewhere rural it's not my thing but I'd think nothing of it.

If you were walking around Manchester or Birmingham wearing one I'd think it slightly odd.

The estate car is in your favour, as is the land inheritence, shotgun, grammar school.

Horse hatred goes both ways because if you have a daughter or wife they will need to own one although you hating it is absolutely acceptable.

Staffies are very nice dogs however the general reputation still puts them on the negative list at the moment i'm afraid.

Therefore, although you are a dog pioneer, you may wear a tweed cap and shooting jacket but only when on general country style pursuits, i.e. not for going shopping in sainsbury's or popping over to Next etc.

biggrin

What about the old Teacher look Tweed jacket with leather patches and a liberal coating of chalk dust?

Yes I do, with patches.

Certainly completed the full 'time warp' effect when I borrowed my work's heritage collection Jensen Interceptor FF to a Goodwood Breakfast club. hehe
