Does anyone know the reason why they only do the Thunderball and normal lottery on dd yet euromillions and Lotto plus 5 can only be bought in 4 or 8 weekly blocks. They 'claim'to let you know when thes run out, but i got nothing for the last two and lost a life changing £2.50 as a result...Thats my Christmas buggered

I 'think' its got something to do with the fact that the euromillions is a multiple country draw which is why they cant take direct debits. I have often thought the same thing regarding DD's though.

You should get emails though to say your ticket has run out, I've had mine each time.

To my mind playing the lottery must be about as much fun as sitting in front of an open fire and chucking in £50 notes one at a time.

Doing that by Direct Debit seems even more futile.

Euromillions ticket charge is dependant on exchange rates, hence might change so they can't do direct debit. That is their argument.

Great.

Don't play it then.

Every week, someone's fire explodes and a flaming unicorn worth millions of pounds flies out, and lands in their wallet. It therefore has an element of thrill.

With my luck the flaming Unicorn market will crash the day after one flies into my wallet.

FFS. I panicked and stamped on its head until it bled green blood when a unicorn flew out of my fire. I didn't know what it was!

Dammit.

Thats a little harsh, what seem futile to you may seem like a highlight of the week to your average lottery player wink

Everyone has something that they 'waste' money on that others might think isn't worth it.

I for instance, don't smoke, or really go out on the lash any more just the odd selected night out here and there. People waste silly money on smoking and that only makes you ill in the long run but people still do it. A friend of mine smokes 10 cigs a day, so that's like 15 packs a month so he probably spends over £100 a month just on cigs. When I used to go out a lot I'd on average go out 3 times and spend 50 quid each time.

So to me spending £20 a month on a a few Euromillions tickets, whilst could be seen as a waste, at least I could potentially win something back and not get Ill in the process and save £££'s a month towards my hobbies instead of literally pissing my money up the side of a wall.

But with smoking you get what you pay for - no one buys a cig with a 1 in 14m chance of enjoying it!

But think of all the long term health benefits you would enjoy by not smoking at all. This topic however, is an entirely different kettle of fish.

It's worth noting the odds of winning the jackpot on the Euromillions are currently 1 in 116,531,800

Yes, and people win quite often.

I don't miss £1.50 a week, I would however enjoy £100,000,000

I only play the Euros when it's a really big one.

I mean who wants to win 20 million?

And sometimes the flaming unicorn flies out when the winners are on holiday or otherwise engaged, and in come a load of men in white coats who tie it up and cart it off to charity.

I got £20 back last month from my lotto ticket

I do DD, one line on weds one on sat

Its £8 or 9 per month (depending on number of draws)

Cant say i miss that £8 per month and the potential (admittedly very very very slim) to win something back

Not really though - if everyone "thought" about it, no one would do it!

There will be people who even if they know the odds are massively stacked against them will still bet.
