Out of the blue, have just received a book through the post.

The title of it: "where has my little girl gone?"

It was addressed to the wife, in he maiden name, and sent to her mothers house
Now we do have little girls, so this is a little disconcerting. Have phoned around the family/friends, and no-one sent it. The book just had a with compliments slip and seems to have been sent straight from the publisher... which is odd. The publisher seems to be a bible bashing company, but we don't really know of anyone who moves in those circles.

What would you make of this?

Sounds very odd. Doesn't have an old friend at said publishing company?

Give them a call first thing tomorrow and in as friendly a tone as you can manage ask if there's been a mistake as you haven't purchased anything and don't receive unsolicited mail.

Put it on ebay.

Either that or someone is planning to kidnap your children and are just giving you a friendly heads up before they do so... boxedin

That's a bit of a weird one.

I'd make 'recycling' out of it and think no more of it. You're wife's details are probably on some sort of database the publisher has purchased.

If you are really concerned, call the publisher on Monday and ask who they are, why they sent you the book, how they got your details and request to be taken of the mailing list.

You'll probably get the bill for it in the post in the morning.

Could be a gift from someone via Amazon etc?, always confusing when that happens!

Sounds to me like a proselytising campaign, and they just have an old mailing list? The contents of the book would probably give you a clue.

Hmm, quite worrying subject matter considering too. Someone sending you a hint on your daughters attire?

Was going to make a daft comment but that's actually a bit scary?
Maybe an e-mail to the publisher?

Best not leave your daughters out of your sight boxedin

By the looks of it the book is about 'wayward kids' or something like that.

For Christ's sake are you lot all paranoid?

It's a fking book, been sent from a traceable source, with a coms slip to the wrong name and address anyway... It's not scary.

Read it or bin it. Take the kids out, enjoy your Sunday.

Sometimes I think the whole world has lost it's fking marbles.

I think you need to readjust your 'all' comment, old chap. Some of us have already said it is just a mailing list bit of crap. wink

My, you are an angry little fellow.
