Ok so who secretly has a Z.A.P (Zombie Action Plan)
Discussion
For the non fantasists amongst us you may call it you disaster action plan. Had a bit of a sleepless night last night and unwittingly formulated mine? So disaster happens (zombie’s lol) and what is the immediate action. The protection of your family. So I’m lucky enough to have a double garage with living above it. The garage is secured with metal garage door and security bollards over the doors. The door is a solid wood with metal grate that padlocks over it, so a medium level of security there. Water and food next. There is a wee shop 3 house down from me so a raid of that and all its contents is next. A filling of a clean old 25 gallon water tank is next. Now that’s you sorted in the short term.
. The medium to long time is more of a problem. If help is not coming of the hordes of undead are too much for the Gov., we are on our own. A long term secure location is needed and food and transport. Now the option to get a hummer and pump action shotgun/AK45 is not open to us as here in Blighty, so that’s just not going to happen. A side by side or good old over & under is all we can hope for. Plus any car we have has to be good on fuel as you will never be sure where your next fill up is coming from. A ex security van is a good shout I think. Anyone else further along with there's.

My ZAP would be to get in a stanced car and drive as fast as possible. The unsafe nature of stanced cars will lead to my demise and I will not be eaten by zombies.
Oh, hang on, it's zombies who run stancing isn't it; mindless individuals all shuffling in the same anonymous direction. I haven't thought this out really.

No, it can still work. You'll blend in and they'll leave you alone. Are they not aware of the Lounge?

Nice forum to choose.
But either way. I'd go to the Winchester for a quiet pint and wait for it all to blow over. Or since I don't know of a pub called the Winchester locally, the Burlington Hotel possibly. Although since the Bacchus bar is underground, that could be a recipe for disaster.
I really should have thought this through already.

Don't come crying to those of us who have been storing beans for just such an (inevitable) eventuality.
You need to get to a sparsely populated area as soon as possible (i.e. North Scotland, or even better a small-ish island) and wait for the Zombaries to eventually starve to death (28 Days Later). Boat is an alright idea but what happens when you run out of food and water? (Dawn of the Dead) You'll have to chance landing again to stock up.
Ideally you want this:

But realistically I'll be grabbing my shotgun, hitting the road to Muckle Roe island (part of the Shetlands). If I hit congestion (which I definitely will) it'll be a case of moving through it by foot and then getting another car on the other side of it somehow.

I was thinking of one of these threads only yesterday, after watching both of the "28 somethings later" films.
Quick raid for a month or so's food, then some heavy duty diesel transport.
Moving to the countryside somewhere would be on the list, some place with a open fire or aga and woods around for fuel.
Any heating oil would probably get used in the old diesel.
A plant hire shop for a decent generator, that'll give you power for welding, maybe grab some diesel from there too.
We're a bit limited for weaponry in the UK, so it'd probably be a couple of pump action shotguns, anything with a 6-8 round tube on them.
Maybe head to an airfield, and see if you can learn to fly on the fly...

For those who are unprepared, I'd suggest looking at something like this to get yourself started.
ZAP kit: a must have
ZAP kit: a must have
Oddly enough this popped into my mind when walking through the warehouse at work a few weeks ago. It occured to me it is probably an excellent place to set up camp.
- 800,000sq ft warehouse
- Masses of racking for elevated living
- We have the contract for a well known clothes/homeware store so there are plenty of clothes for warmth.
- Piles of cardboard boxes and pallets for building shelter
- First aid room with basic medical equipment
- Large enough to house a number of people
- Surrounded by fencing that is 9ft high
- Access to a variety of vehicles parked in the yard (cars and rigids along with artics)
- I believe there is still fuel storage although it isn't used. Still, you could probably raid a few petrol stations for diesel and then fill it up.
- Hatfield Tesco is a 5 minute drive away, hop in a lorry and make a food run over there and load it up with all the tinned goods I can get my hands on.
I'd seal up the offices at the front so access was only through the main gate at the side of the warehouse. For extra security the main warehouse shutter would be blocked for safety and instead access would be gained through any of the loading bays as these are raised up, so in case of a perimeter breach people would still have a degree of safety in the warehouse.
I, along with a number of friend's have shotgun's, collect them and all the ammo we can and then settle in and wait for society to rebuild while making food runs to keep stock levels up.
Too much thought? Probably, but it was a quiet day in the office.
