Katie Hopkins - vacuous moron
Discussion
Katie Hopkins. Former reality TV "star" from Suralan Sugar's Apprentice gobste-fest. Since appearing on The Apprentice she's reinvented herself as a "social commentator". Over the past week or so she's been popping up in my peripheral vision and every time I become aware of her it's because she's said something rude and stupid, often aimed at children.
Firstly there was the stuff about judging children by their names. Obviously you can't judge a child by their given name, you can only judge their parents. She's also apparently so dim that she doesn't understand that India (her own child's name) is a geographical name, one of her supposed bugbears. Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield wiped the floor with Hopkins in a battle of wits on this one, which tells its own story. Youtube link
Next came her bizarre claim that Paul Gascoigne should carry on with his drinking, even though he's obviously a shambling wreck of a man who will drink himself to death in fairly short order if left to his own devices. - Independent link
Now I read that she has decided that ginger haired babies are "so hard to love". Being foul and rude about people because of their innate characteristics such as skin, eye or hair colour is again a hallmark of the terminally moronic. How could anyone think that they would attract anything other than opprobrium and ridicule for expressing such a monumentally crass statement? Huffpost link
My question is not "Is this woman a total fking idiot or what?" because that much is apparent but rather "How is someone this monumentally stupid not a social pariah?"
I wouldn't have her in my house let alone invite her on a television programme because she's clearly an utter penis who seems to want to be 2013's Samantha Brick. How long will the UK have to put up with this bilge before we grow a spine and maroon her on Rockall?

Ok a small confession
I watched the clip of This Morning the other day and was calling her all sorts of names. Then yesterday I went to get some cigarettes and was served by a young extremely chavvy girl, so I checked the name badge.......Porsche
KH is still an idiot but I was left wondering if her point had a small amount of validity.

And you don't consider that some comments are made just to cause a reaction and get the publicity?
Why would anyone want to be widely and publically regarded as a total idiot though? If you're going to be a talking head on television why not say sensible and insightful things rather than spouting such utter rubbish? There seems to be a current trend for inviting guests with extreme views on to television these days, rather than people who represent the vast majority of opinion of either side of an argument.
Whenever there is some sort of Muslim involved crime (Woolwich) the BBC wheel vile Anjem Choudary out who I'm sure in no way speaks for the majority of Muslims in the world. Likewise when a left wing perspective is required then they get in the awful lefty rent-a-gob Owen Jones with his Marxist ideological views; again in no way a fair representation of the left.
I think I prefer Katie to the two examples above, however she is in the same camp in that she does not represent the views of many people but herself.

Because this thread wouldn't have been started if she'd said something insightful and sensible and therin lies the reason. Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
