I wonder if anyone has any insight into this:

I bought something from eBay, it arrived, it was broken, I complained.

Seller said: "We will send a replacement!"

I said "Thank you!"

Time passed...

I said "Where's my thing?"

Seller said "Ah, we just found out ALL our stuff is broken, we will send a refund"

I said "OK".

Time passed...

I said "Hey, where's my money?"

Seller said "Oops! We just found some really great NOT broken ones - one is already despatched!"

I said "Hmm, about time, OK then".

More time passed.

I emailed and got no reply. I emailed some more and got no reply.

More time passed.

I emailed again.

Seller said "We haven't sent it because you still have the broken thing".

I said "FFS! You never asked for it, you massive LIARS - how do you want it returned?"

Seller said "Here are some downloadable freepost labels"

I said "Thank you. At last".

I sent it back, the next day, and waited.

Time passed.

I emailed and got no reply. I emailed some more and got no reply.

More time passed.

I emailed again.

I then left bad feedback and opened a PayPal dispute.

Until today the seller had just ignored ALL emails and the dispute thing too, until today when they have now said - "Send it back for a full refund!".

FFS.

Now I have no tracking info from my returned package, emails from them admitting it was broken, telling me they would swap it whatever, and also lying to me about a despatched replacement.

PayPal don't seem to have any way for me to TELL them this.

What is the best way to get the refund?

It's bugger all money, I just refuse to be messed about by giant ignorant sellers.

God knows why I keep using eBay.

Bye.

Cool story bro. (I do actually like how you kept it simple.)

Once the paypal dispute is open the steps should be pretty clear. Given your evidence trail (including proof of return postage for the broken thing) you should be golden. Just keep answering paypal's questions as they come up and you should get your wedge back. smile

EDIT - Upon re-reading it's not totally clear if you have proof of postage from when you returned the broken thing. Can you clarify? PS - If you don't have it then you may have a trickier problem. Sorry dude.

Going through the same issue at the moment. I ordered something relatively cheap (not the point) on 22nd Sept... a week passed, they said been posted. I sent an e-mail a few days after saying not received still, next day opened a dispute.

I can't currently do anything now as they have a week to resolve the dispute.

I will try and leave negative feedback now though.

Poor comms really piss me off.

Yep, sick of paypal and ebay.

Have used Amazon for years but recently used Amazon Marketplace for a secondhand item recently. Sadly, it turned up borked but easy to return and no quibble refund.

This is hateful, especially when I have an email from them admitting it was broken and st.

Getting pissed off with Paypal over a customer filing a dispute for not receiving goods. At least I get to file a "report" (for all the good it'll do)

Do you have any suggestions for how our dispute process can be improved?

Yes, it's absolutely stupid for you to have a policy that allows a customer who pays for an item on a Friday evening can on the following day (Saturday) file a dispute, then a few minutes later follow it with a claim for non-receipt of goods!
I think you should make buyers wait until a "reasonable" amount of time has passed before being allowed to file claims for non-receipt of an order - a few hours in the evening is ridiculous! I'd recommend several working days.
Your current policy of demanding proof of delivery several hours after an item is paid for needs work.
FYI Royal Mail are unlikely now, or in the future, to collect 2nd class items late into the evening and deliver them next day (it's quite obvious from your policies that you were quite unaware of this fact - maybe you should phone them, or look at their website that shows working hours and delivery times)

The only good news is as the customer paid for an item and claimed non-receipt and put in a claim all within about 12 hours on a weekend, the item was never actually sent.
