Supsicious behaviour

Some chavvy, white, hoodie and tracksuit wearing scumbag was walking down my parents very quiet cul-de-sac the other day, eying up cars and even had the audacity - in broad daylight - to walk into some neighbours gardens and look over the garden fences.
Should I expect his chavvy scumbag white friends to be burgling my parents/neighbours house some time soon?

Of course not - he'll have lost his dog, that's all, mate.
Call 101 and let them know? Sounds like you ought to mention that he's IC1, too.

What's his skin colour got to do with it?
You can't be racist to white people. Or so goes the common consensus seemingly. The incident actually happened as above, and yes he was white. But I agree that my mentioning his colour wasn't relevant to the story.
People in the below thread jumped on me for pointing out the same scenario, and all insisted that if someone mentioned a chap was white in a negative context, nobody would be offended.
I just thought I would test that theory.

Mods - feel free to delete this thread. I am not quite sure it turned out the way i wanted it to do and i am a tad shamed

I wanted to know whether mentioning white in this context was disliked. It was.
What do I have to be ashamed about?
I was well aware that I would get more of the same on this thread as the other so please continue

Just for reference

This bit I didn't even notice the mention of skin colour, I took it as part of a descriptionvinnie83 said:

This bit made you sound like a cockbag as it sounds like generalisation by itself and in combination with the first comment gives the impression of racismDanielSan said:
As already mentioned, the common view is its not racism if the person is white apparently.
I personally don't feel this is correct... and if that's the common view, it's a little bit one sided surely? Some of the most tolerant people I know are white, and some of the most racist people I know are coloured. Racism can occur in any direction.
Anyway, I think I should hold my hands up now, apologise to all involved and say that I have taken this a tad too far, you have my sincerest apologies for going on about the point.
On Monday morning I was sitting replying to some emails at home when a head appeared over the garden wall and a boy of 13-15 tried to climb over. He couldn't get over but I dashed outside, jumped onto a garden bench and looked down on him asking WTF he thought he was doing. I told him that if I caught him trying it again I'd call the police and he legged it.
I phoned it in to 101 giving a full description. Should I have omitted his skin colour?
