then why would you get married in Luton?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiLLj8fv1tk

No offense to Lutonians but I think that if was apparently this wealthy, I might be tempted to jet off to somewhere more exotic.

1. They're not as rich as they appear
2. Luton is actually considered a very desirable and romantic location in some cultures

It may well be that the many guests found Luton easier to get to. Doubtless there will be another ceremony in Asia.

Gotcha - two ceremonies. That's even better because weddings are ace.

Case solved.

The cars are also rented out, most from Birmingham. And not all are paid by the bride/groom. Usually male friends/cousins will rent out a car to attend the occasion with with females occasionally doing so.
Generally speaking for asian weddings, the groom travels to the brides area for the wedding day.

So even if he lived in say New York in USA and was a goatee wearing powerfully built director of several companies that hammers frozen sausages into lawns and writes scripts for PH soaps in his spare time when not reporting hidden bunkers and 535D's marked up as M5's to internet folks, he can and usually will go to bride fathers house/area.

Things are becoming more modern as time goes on so get married somewhere fancy wherever they want. I don't mind the rentals as it means I see them often around Brum, just wish they weren't driven like they're stolen 80% of the time

Fail to see what the issue is here. People living and getting married in Luton shouldn't large it up with exotic stuff? Jesus.

Hiring super cars is their way of making their day special. Good luck to them

Some prefer to spend money on boozing to make their day special

Each to their own

The video makes it look like they forgot about the wedding, and that the boys spent the day hooning about in the cars. Fair play to them! I'm currently battling my OH about wedding cars, she wants to use either her Clio or my aged MX5!! frown Far rather have something a bit special that reflects my love of cars. Though if all my mates turned up in Lambos etc, I think I'd be leaving the alter single handed.

I just don't get why you need to be so pompous about a wedding?

The cars were nice. But all the dancing in the street, riding a white horse? Eugh.

Might be the culture. And extreme pride. Maybe the bride's a real hotty and rich to boot. (Didn't spot her as I just skipped through the video.)

That's relatively modest for an Indian wedding. Spending £40k to £50k is pretty average.

Wonder what the OP would make of a Gypsy wedding!? Absolutely insane! my OH worked at a venue which was hired out by the local travellers for a wedding and apparently they'd literally throw wads of any old notes at the bar staff for drinks. Even the young'uns were wandering round with rolls of notes in their hands! money no object! All that dosh but only got married in a quiet village near Lincoln.

Its not about the location though is it. It doesn't matter where it is so long as you got all your friends and family there to see it.

I'm not sure what the issue here is, is it a thinly veiled racial dig? (obviously it's not just playing devil's advocate). It actually is a case of ''Town with substantial Asian population holds ostentatious Asian weddings'' seems to be the gist of it.

There's not many other parts of the country with such a large non-white population, it's near London and is so accessible it's untrue. It may be a bit of a dive (saying this as an ex-Lutonian) but it's certainly got a hell of a lot in it's favour that gets overlooked by most.
