Sunday Times Rich list whens it out?

It would be much easier if they published the list using their PH usernames rather than their real names.

Is there some filthy rich people that are not listed because of various reasons, clever accountants, overseas holdings etc?

Or is it a case of if you're loaded it's traceable?

If you have a few billion, its prety hard to keep yourself out.

I suspect in the 50-500m group, they have it about half right, if that.

I know the ST guess the wealth, garnered from various sources that anyone can access.
I'd guess that a lot of wealth isn't listed or included.

Art/wine/car collections for example.

I've often wondered this. The wealthiest fella I know doesn't even come up on Google. Most certainly a billionaire, but not one who shouts about it. I wonder how many others there are like him. Lots, I expect.

ETA: I take that back. In my own disbelief, I googled again and got loads of hits. I'm talking borrocks.

So basically the list is for "normos" like me (and probably 99% of the reads if ST) who'll never get that rich and the people who're in it probably wouldn't bother to look at it, maybe to check their picture is ok but no more.

some rich people want to be in it because they are flash, some dont because they couldnt think of anything more crass.

I once heard of a reasonably well known rich petrolhead paying off the journo who compiles the list.

He easily made it in there every year, just didn't want people to know.

It's all guess work and estimates on assets that have been gathered through normal channels of information.

There are lots of people I know that would qualify for the rich list but are not in due to keeping a low profile / having multiple interests all worth significant amounts.

We work in trust and foundation structures for clients so the declarations of wealth are always amusing

David Sullivan used to send the Philip Beresford who compiles the list audited accounts of his companies each year to argue he deserved to be further up the list.
