what is that London parenting method called??

Anyone remember what that parenting method much approved by London middle classes which allows their children to be the worst behaved spoiled undiciplined cheeky brats in existence...... which has the parents claiming that their children are simply too "energetic" to stop them from doing anything... oddly this "energetic" problem doesnt seem to be shared by the majority of children they are in the same room with...

My brother in law has ADHD. There are genuine cases of it around. I know and appreciate the fact that 'labels' get dished out to all and sundry, but for some it is an actual condition. When he is in a hyperactive state, he is mentally incapable of processing the instruction to calm down and behave. It isn't the fact that he is naughty and lacks discipline, far from it. He is a brilliant lad.
As I am a father to a child with Asperger Syndrome, and also almost certainly an 'Aspie' myself, I take note of mental health. ADHD is most certainly a condition. Not an excuse.

the parent in question asked others in their company why their children were the only ones badly behaved in comparison to others present and did anyone have any advice on what they could do about it...
after recieving answers and advice regarding obvious and very basic discipline theygot upset and decided that the people from whom they had recieved advice were just being mean to their children......

The issue is ADHD is a convient one for extra funding in school etc, and I suspect a good number of naughty kids have ended up with a diagnosis to make things easierAs I am a father to a child with Asperger Syndrome, and also almost certainly an 'Aspie' myself, I take note of mental health. My sister doesn't really discipline her kids or tell them "no" in any authoritative way apart from an occasional half arsed "don't do that darling", they can be a bloody nightmare and sometimes excuses are made up to stop them coming round, they don't really have any bedtime routine either so are constantly tired.
She teaches primary by the way.
It is bloody frustrating when you see kids out and about running riot and the parents; usually mum, just not bothering to a) keep an eye on them and b) not telling them off or stopping them doing what they are doing, it's no wonder that as they get older many children have issues with authority and have a sense of entitlement.
