Posting a steering wheel??

I have just sold my spare steering wheel for my car, and it has an airbag fitted. It came to me via a normal courier (was flown from NI!) but I am aware that these are restricted items because they're an explosive.

Aside from driving the steering wheel to the buyer (pointless as it would cost me more than I'm getting paid for it), does anyone know of any courier's who will send it legally? I expect that with me luck, if I sent it and didnt disclose what it was, it would go off, and then I guess I would be liable for prosecution?

Posted one a few moths ago, buyer arranged a courier - Yodel. Wouldn't recommend them as they lost it for a week but it eventually got there.

Isn't there a danger the airbag will go off with the impact when Yodel chuck it over the fence?

Despite peoples claims they wont go off, they can.

We had one go off in our depot when it went through the auto sorter. It was wrapped in loads of bubble wrap and pallet wrap but it had nearly burst through all the layers.

I sold a steering wheel on Ebay and posted it via Royal Mail. Just wrapped it up well in a box and took it to the post office. They didn't seem to care. Although I didn't actually say what was in the package!

But seriously, my desk is coverd in the things ( periodically) and I have several stuffed into my desk draws amongst my other crap, just the airbag, not the wheel.

We periodically have a discussion around the safety of these things at work. Our supplier sends them I full esd packing, but as soon as we get them they are just handled and stored as any other item. We must process 5000 a week of these things as well as around 10-30 defective ones that get brutally man handled.

Still yet to see one go off.

Paisley Freight wont take it, despite being told by email that they would.

Im just going to refund the buyer, its not worth the potential hassle.
