German ebayers not posting to UK?

I've noticed that a number of ebay items on ebay.de say no postage to the UK. I'm looking at stereos in particular.
Has anyone else come up against this and any idea why?
Lots of them take paypal now too so should be easy enough.

I've had this as well. As the other poster suggests, try contacting the eBay vendor to discuss postage - this has worked for me on occasions.

(The weird thing is postage/carriage costs from Germany to my Scottish Highlands postcode are often less than from within the UK...as quick or quicker too, for some reason.)

I have spoken to a couple but using a translation service isn't ideal.
It's just that it is a common line in the postage info and only the uk is mentioned.

On a Keskin alloy wheel centre I bought from a German ebayer last month it had that line about no foreign despatch. I asked the guy about it and he said he could post it, no problem, but it would cost 17 euros. So that's what happened.

AFAIK, they have to offer Paypal, but most prefer bank transfer - and transfers from outside the EuroZone cost more because of exchange issues.

It's not that they aren't posting to the UK, it is just they have set their "post to-" as Germany, rather than Europe or the world.

When you view the advert, where ever you are from, if it isn't Germany it'll say "won't post to XXXXXXX"


It's always worth asking though.

Maybe they've just experienced a much higher proportion of chancers/ scammers/ dheads from the UK versus from other countries?

No need to use a translation service. Most Germans can speak English.

Back in my Unimog days, I too found this, but even when it specifically says no to the UK, often a babel fish courteous email worked. More often than not, they would take the time to post, which in my case, were some ridiculously large and heavy items.

That makes sense. I couldn't see why it was only the UK that got mentioned.
One chap has cited poor transactions abroad but would send it as long as paypal wasn't used.
