large parcel courier wanted.

Hi guys.

I need to send a large package from Ipswich, Suffolk to Dorking in Surrey this week and looking for a cheap courier.

It's not that heavy at 9.5kg but it's quite big (70x50x50cm box).

I've looked on parcel2go.com and it's coming back at about £30 with TNT 24hr. The likes of UPS, yodel, city link etc... seem to say no due to the size.

Anyone know any other couriors or comparison sites to try for somthing this big? I don't need it next day or anything as lone as it's delivered by the weekend.

I've used myParcelDelivery.com to send some large (2m high) 20kg items and I paid around £12 each through City Link next day. All others were over £30 each.

I would try Myhermes.co.uk for a quote as well. I've used them quite a lot recently and they've been cheap and reliable.

Try DPD, the guy who collects some of the packages where I work is a 6'4 bodybuilder.

I've just sent a 1.5m x 0.5m x 0.1m parcel via parcelmonkey.com. and cost about £10

Whatever you do don't choose the citylink option. They are worse than useless. Two days I waited for them to pickup, both days gone 6pm and still no attempt. Managed to get a refund and book parcelforce.

I've always used CityLink when they have been the cheapest on ParcelMonkey and haven't had a problem with either the collections or deliveries.

With City Link I think the service is dependant on who your local pickup guy is. My local guy turned up twice and said he didn't have room on the van, despite me giving the full dimensions and a good description of the item. Each time he came back at 4pm and collected, so no big deal.
