I was looking at Flebay for a new pair of trainers. I always owned Adidas with only on exceptions years ago when I was in the US and got myself Nike Air from a ROSS shop (kind of like Matalan) for $20 USD biggrin

You can still get a good pair of Adi's for about 40 to 60 quid but NIKE's...WOW, some of the prices are insane. How could anyone ask for or pay 300/400 quid for a pair?
I was watching few Auction style listings and they went for 275; 312 and 187 quid each???

What I am missing here?

People pay a premium for buying just one trainer? Must be a lot of desperate 1 legged folk about, I bet they're hopping mad at price nike.

If you bid on just one shoe I guess you'll be missing the other one biggrin

My brother has more money than sense, for my last birthday he got me a voucher for £150 so I could go to Nike town and design my own. Cool present but fudge me, I'd never have done it myself!

This. NIke have always done new versions or limited runs of themes. See the Air Max 90 2012 for the Olympics. Essentially the "Infrared" scheme with a Underground map on the sole.

I saw a pair go for £150

Nike are by far not the only people doing this. Look at the Adidas Barbour collaboration

Limited Editions means more money and more desirability.

last couple of years I have taken my holidays in America. Love Nike trainers and always buy out there, Nike Air 90's $40 in the Nike store in Vegas compared to the exact same pair in JD for £90 smile

Those Nike Huaraches that everyone is getting an erection about are going for 100 quid a pop and are the most disgusting looking trainers I've ever seen. They all seem to be worn by people who put videos of themself on Facebook doing some ridiculous dance.

I've got 3 pairs of limited edition huaraches, bought for 85 each now selling on ebay for 140-160.

Not to everyones taste but a more comfortable trainer you will not find.

I'm a watch person and agree to a point.

However...you can wear a quality watch brand every day for a 5 years and it will still have a value to it - same can't be said for trainers.

Sneaker heads will pay hundreds if it's a rare pair of trainers or limited editions.

Has anyone seen this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbS5kkbn9GM

It's an Argentinian Adidas store that an old fella had owned from 1980, and full of stock from those days! Ian Brown of the Stone Roses was one of the Adidas fans who went over to rake through the stock...

I think his point is that a used watch is in much better condition than used trainers.

If or when you come to sell it/them.
