I have been wearing Levi 501s since about 1971.

I will be 60 very soon.

Is it time for cords yet?

I think you can wear jeans at pretty much any age, providing you wear the right style of jeans!

Depends on the jeans. Depends on the person. Depends on the place.

Subjective in any event.

+1 to all that .. (although I did defect to Wranglers for a bit in 1972, that's the rebel in me though)

Jeans can be worn at any age. I know people in their 60's who wear jeans. I have a family member who wears cheap Tesco specials and I've been to a music gig and chatted to an older gentlemen wearing a rather nice pair of expesive Nudie's with turn ups. He looked rather dapper.

My dad has only ever worn a pair of jeans once in his life about 40 years ago for 2 minutes, didn't like them, took them off and hasn't worn jeans since. Trousers or cords at home and usually trousers, shirt and jacket when out and about, even if he is just popping out to the shops for 10 minutes. Born in a time when jeans were only worn by proles and believes a gentlemen should always dress smartly in public or at home when entertaining guests.

I'm 41 and wear the usual IT contractor clothes (complete with blazer) but as soon as I get home, the jeans come out. I'm not the sort of bloke who feels comfortable wandering around Asda or going to the pub in dress pants and shoes. I also spend a lot more on good jeans than I would a dress shirt for work or good trousers.

Edited to add @ Rollin, even I'm too old for skinny jeans though rolleyeslaugh

I'm 40 and still wear them. As long as they are clean, smart and have a nice crease down the front you're ok.

I have Jeans, Corduroys and as a sort of 1/2 way house some moleskin jeans.

Cords can be cool, as the man said. It ain't what you wear it's the way that you wear it.

Seriously....I have no idea why there is a taboo about jeans. Comfy, hardwearing, practical, casual, you can wear them for ages without washing them, go with anything, warm. The list goes on.

Why you would want to wear school trousers is beyond me. Freezing in the winter, feel horrible, last a month at most, pockets are st, they look awful, you cant wear anything with them other than a shirt and dress shoes. Awful, awful item of clothing.
