Toddler - pro painting lessons.
Discussion
A friend of mine has a one and half year old son, and is seriously considering taking him to have professional painting classes.
He asked my opinion, to which my initial reactions was that it was a ludicrous idea.
I'm finding it hard to get my head around why a toddler that can barely hold a pen would need to take such lessons.
Isn't giving him a pen and paper and letting them draw pictures what he should be doing, or am I living in the stone ages!?
What benefits would a child his age get by taking these types of courses?

Painting classes?
FFS, this is 2016. That kid needs to be learning Photoshop or CGI.
Maybe it's MS-painting classes? Vital skills for the wheelie girl thread..FFS, this is 2016. That kid needs to be learning Photoshop or CGI.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks it's ridiculous. I'll let him have a read of this thread before its too late, and his son decides to chop his ear off.
Speaking as someone who did an Art PGCE years ago. He's far better cultivating a vivid imagination and exposing him/her to a broad spectrum of cultural references than he is teaching him art techniques.
If you can hold a pen / pencil / brush you can teach any idiot to paint or draw. What is almsot impossible to teach is imagination.
Give him a slap from me too. Tell him to do water babies instead; it'll be more fun for all and a far more useful skill to learn at <2 years old.

That costs a bomb too! £175 round our way for 10 half hour sessions. There's a similar thing run by the council, £39 for the same time.Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
