PC on steroids - New Barbies apparently
Discussion
According to the news:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-35432314
...Barbie was an unrealistic body image, and therefore was bad.
Anyways, now we have bingo wing barbie:

So the PC brigade will be sated. Thing is....
This is He-Man:

Bat man:

Spider man:

Where the f
k is the PC campaign for boys toys to be more realistic? I mean, there's not many people that can put back 8 pints and have a torso like Spiderman. Maybe the right on brigade need to gen up on Fathers for justice, and make more toys more depressingly average. Make Batman more Fatman. The Incredible Hulk have a bit of a bad back and some man boobs.
Anyway, I'm still astounded that story was "news" according to the BBC - who put it on the front page, rather than mention the resistance of bed bugs to neonicatinoids, or some HIV strains against antiretroviarals. Still, maybe they wanted to ignore the bad news and concentrate on the great result that even Barbie now helps kids remember that it's quite acceptable and normal to be overweight. Yay.

Barbie's figure has come under fire for years, with critics arguing it set an unrealistic body image for girls.
No mention that the BBC was one of those loud critics for ages...Anyways, now we have bingo wing barbie:

No offence to you OP but I do find PH a bit tiresome on occasion. Any mention of anything vaguely progressive for women and it's always brought back to unnecessary comparisons with how men aren't equal and how everything is so unfair etc. etc.
He Man and Spider Man etc are action figures and are obviously not representative of how men look. I guess the same thing (to an extent) applies to Barbie but body image issues affect way more women than men. Like it or not, we still live in a sexist society and efforts to address the balance should be applauded rather than mocked.

Been a while since I've read the research, but I didn't think it at all clear that that was true?He Man and Spider Man etc are action figures and are obviously not representative of how men look. I think we're just bored of this pick and mix PC lark now, everyone's a repressed minority, no one can think for themselves. I think comparisons with men are vital, it puts these things in perspective and ensures we don't have one rule for one and another rule for others - discrimination itself.

Neither is Barbie's if they put down the cake.
You obviously don't have a daughter. Barbie's shape is completely unrealistic, I read an article once that reckoned she's skinnier than any supermodel. And I'm struggling to work out which of the OP's pictures is supposed to be overweight.
Comparison with spiderman is ridiculous, because he's a cartoon character. But Ken is vaguely valid although anyone is capable of getting a six pack.
I thought this was pretty funny over the breakfast news. Maybe it's because I'm not the target demographic but I have never understood this barbie thing. She's just a skinny blonde girl. It's adults projecting their madness that has ludicrous up scaling and says they are not achievable. If you take it literally it isn't but when has any doll been 100% anatomically correct. How boring would that be? Slightly over weight wearing the same clothes for years. Comes with accessories like a 2 bed flat and an audi you have to pay Mattel each month for renting. Sounds ace.

Best of luck. PH hates sense and reason.

I have two daughters. My sister (also has two kids) has what could easily be described as a "Barbie body". Eat well, keep fit and it's possible not to look like a tub of lard. And I'm struggling to work out which of the OP's pictures is supposed to be overweight.
