Possibly par of a trick? I seem to remember Derren Brown doing something that involved putting in adverts in a paper......

Love it though. smile I like a mystery. What paper?

Must be a very long trick - or one on tour : http://metro.co.uk/2015/06/17/cryptic-message-in-n...

Love a mystery, but I'm pretty sure that if spies were using a newspaper ad to relay a message, it would be a lot more inconspicuous than this.

Maybe the clue is hidden in the detail around the advert - for example the Mauritius trip is to Casuarina which is an anagram of 'Run Isaac A.'

Man I'm glad my name isn't Isaac right now.

There was something similar in the Evening Standard for years, my wife was convinced it was secret code of spies or something similar. There would an advert in the paper in the classifieds saying lost passport please contact ........ it was a very similar name every time but not the same name. I can remember on many an occasion her coming home from work all excited to point out another advert it was a regular thing at least once a month or so.

A quick google shows it has appeared in a few local rags over time.

Total guess but could it be put in by the advertising sales team to drum up interest.
I know there's no contact number but I imagine that's kinda the point... They'd be bombarded with questions about it.

Catches the eye more than "if you're interested in advertising here contact".

(For some reason I am under the impression these things are somewhat centralised nowadays)

Either that or it deliberately catches the eye and so you start to look at the ads surrounding it?
