Couldn't help but think today, because one department of Lloyds wouldn't accept a Lloyds debit card for a transfer. No, I'm not going into it but I had to write a cheque in the end. Which made me have a look at the date of the first cheque written in that book, and it was 2007. Now do you still write them or are they about as dead as a dodo?

I've had to write one recently for the solicitor. Think I've had the book for about 10 years!

Yeah, our Lad's school's only seems to accept cheques - my bank account doesn't even had that facility anymore, luckily my Wife's does - I asked about Paypal, or bank transfer and it blew their minds - they're still all about cheques and writing payments in books etc - even my window cleaer takes PP now!

didnt have one for about 10 years until just recently when I opened a new account with a different bank and requested one - the week before for the first time in 10 years I had found myself in a situation where the only way I could pay would have been cheque or postal order as cards werent accepted and I had to transfer money to someone elses account who had a cheque book.......... I believe it was something to do with a DVLA vehicle inspection and number transfer - if memory serves! cheque or postal order only...

I pay my credit card bill by cheque each month and use cheques to send christmas/b.day money.
Mostly I'm paid in cash but sometimes my clients give me cheques to.

I have never written a cheque, and I do not have a chequebook. I am 30 and can't imagine that I'm alone in not having written a cheque!

Yes. Looking through my cheque book.... milkman, birthday pressies, scouts, schools, repairs, holiday cottage rental.

Cheques are still widely used in business too. I reckon I pay in cheques two or three times a week. Even sizeable outfits, not just one man bands still use them.

Yes,

But thinking about it, it is only for activities that my kids go to.

The beaver and cub groups want the termly subs and payment for trips and camps via cheque, as does the football club they play for when it is annual subs time, and the Aikedo group too.

For these groups run by volunteers cheques seem to be the preferred payment method.

We receive cheques for Christmas & birthdays from older relatives, OK, OAP relatives, but otherwise I've not written a cheque for 9 years! (I looked in my chequebook when I had to get a paying in slip out after Christmas)

Window Cleaner, although last time he came we had a chat and now I have his bank details to pay him directly. And as mentioned some school things, although most can be done via parentpay now.
