Some people need to get a grip on perspective.

12hrs on a ferry, or a 3yr old spending 3days alone with his dead mother?

Come on passengers, get a grip!

What about if one of the people on the ferry was due to be at the house of the 3 year old you linked to?

But, they weren't.

And I suppose none of them had any where they needed to be in a caring capacity either? Causing anxiety for the person expecting them.

Your discussion point and follow up to my comment is very naive.

IF there were carers, or anyone else, on the ferry that should have been somewhere, they were more likely to be in a position to do something about it such as make a phone call to make alternative arrangements, or even in a life and death situation, walk off the thing and make alternative transport arrangements or seek help from the authorities.

It is unlikely they were wondering why there mum couldn't answer their cries, who or if anyone would come to help them, scratching around for food. Kids are resilient creatures, but given a choice, I would take 12hrs on a ferry.

Your comment regarding naivety is uncalled for, unfounded and incorrect.

You could say this about virtually any news article though, there will always be something that could judged to be more important. Where do you draw the line? The death of a young mother and trauma of her toddler son doesn't lessen the inconvenience those people faced as the two events are completely unrelated, both geographically and emotionally.

Yeah, they don't have to run 15 miles every day, having to dodge sniper fire for some of it, just to attend school and then make the journey home in the evening, then help their parents collect food and water from aid convoys.

Perspective: everyone has their own, they have to deal with the hand they're dealt in their life. There's not a lot of point denigrating them for feeling sad or angry about the situation they're in, just because someone else has it worse. There's only one person in the world at any one time who can say no one else has it worse; the other 7 billion should just think themselves lucky because "someone's got it worse"?

These are small, the ones out there are far away. Small...far away.
