With all that's going on in the world I was wondering that if the UK declared we're at war again!!! Where would the general population go to pick-up their small arms & how quick could the UK ramp up to produce guns bullets and bombs for the defence of the nation... smile

We don't need to.

We have a very handy stealthy submarine (4 in fact) filled with enough firepower to do sufficient damage to any enemy state that they won't risk it.

Of course... if you think a few kilos of grenades will help..... fill your boots.

I'll trust the bloke with the nukes.

So where do we go to pick up nukes if we're not keen on filling our boots with grenades?

Relax

For as long as Scotland stays within the union we can rely on a few dozen beered up scary men with ginger beards and pointy sticks standing on the white cliffs warding off Johnny Foreigner

Cheers

er we couldnt.
No real steel works left.
We dont mine iron ore much these days.
Very few large scale engineering works left
The energy we need to produce large scale armaments is imported, and belongs to the foreigners
Sod all shipyards
We import loads of food (army marches on its stomach etc)

Next time around the Germans would win.

Disagree.

We produce loads of food, just people will have to eat in bread instead of bananas.
We never did really mine iron ore, at least not in modern times.
Plenty of engineering left, albeit more specialised than mass production.
Energy is imported, but plenty of unused capacity here which could be turned on.

You forget, in almost all of history we are a country dependent on imports. Hence why in WW1 and WW2 the enemy tried to sink all out ships. Not a lot has changed. We imported oil, iron ore, food, weapons and men in WW2 and still managed to win.

Surely, as this is PistonHeads, we just need to get in touch with 22Rgt or one of the other covert insertion specialists that regularly post on here. I'm sure they'll have a couple of contacts who can sort us all out hehe

...but they don't want to talk about it. Very quiet bloke who sits passively at the bar - apparently.

I've just spoken to Tata: they're more than happy to oblige, unless we're at war with India.

I don't think they need to worry about the Forth Road Bridge unless you know something we don't wink

What we should worry about is who owns them and has veto on their deployment. Hint it isn't anyone in the UK...
