anyone used a private detective or similar?

Pretty much self explanatory title - I posted some time ago that we were concerned an aunt may be being taken for a ride by some con-man. Long story short she's mid 90's he's early 80's and seems to have turned her from the family to the extent that he's pretty much her only 'friend'/contact & he now has power of attorney & is sole beneficiary of her will. He's done this a few times before (and been, unsuccessfully, sued for this) & we just want to get some background to ensure he's not a wrong'un.

So with all of the above has anyone used one before? Were you happy with the cost/benefit/outcome? Was it worth it? Not sure my PM's are working so I'm forum name @aol.com if anyone wants/is able to help.

I used one to track down a beneficiary of an old property title covenant. Mainly desktop work and some door knocking. Cost about £5k iirc

Not used them but worked for them outside of their profession. They knew a lot about us and most people associated with us.

I don't think ABD actually used a pi in the end....

Expert Investigations are supposed to be good and I believe *may* take instructions from individuals. No idea what it would cost though.

It might also be worth speaking to her local Safer Neighbourhood police officer as well?

Hello, it was me under a slightly less positive user name :-).

The thread is here but it was a different subject and I didn't use one in the end - I did most of the digging myself with a bit of help from some friends and some fantastic PHers.
