Seen two in as many weeks (Surrey area).

The first one had one of those tiny scooters that you see young kids on. The time of day suggested he was having a cheeky scoot home having maybe walked his kid to school on it.

The second I saw today had bigger wheels on his scooter. It was nearly 6pm so unlikely to be something to do with his kid. He was wearing weatherproof gear and looked quite at home on his scooter.

What's going on? Am I to think of this as normal?

When I did a specific morning dog walk I would see the same guy every morning, scootering to work with his man bag across his body (not taking the piss as I have a man bag), it was a micro scooter; I guess he was mid 30's; trendy looking.

I'm Surrey by the way.

These are really common in London - people use them to commute from the station to the office. Quite a lot folded up on the train in the morning now.

If a grown man wants to ride a scooter, a skateboard or a trike, let him. Not doing anyone any harm.

Saw a bloke (think beardy hipster) got to have been late 20s at least, wearing and making use of a pair of heelys this evening at King's Cross. Also see loads of adults on kids scooters each day.

I had a scooter as a kid, thought it was rubbish actually. Seemed like as much hard work to get it to go as walking. Soon dumped it and learnt to ride a bike. They still look like hard work.

I saw loads of people in NZ on them, looks a bit weird but I've got no real problem with it. They look quite fun!

This is what happens when an dad falls off of his 8 yr old sons scooter. Smarted a bit.. This was after my wife had cut bits of hanging flesh off of it.

It does make sense. Safer than a skateboard or inline skates, more convenient than a bicycle (can jump on the bus and stash under your desk).

"Nathan Barley" wasn't a comedy - it was a documentary.

My misses bought me one for Christmas so I could ride it with my son and his, was a shock, plus after showing off outside I fell off it, the shame.

It's quite an efficient way of getting around, I see them often in some airports with long terminal buildings like Copenhagen and Stockholm being used by airport staff. Nothing to do with hipterism or whatever.

I'm not going to check to see the bone. That pic is massive on my 25" monitor!

I occasionally use one of the scooters in our transport pool for those occasions when my bike or RR just wont cut it

Most commonly:

taking the missus car for MOT/garage tlc and getting home whilst they work on it

rolling from the boozer after a night with the lads - its downhill home, safer to stash than my bikes and after a few pints a genuine adrenaline rush

It must be said that people do stare at you in a funny way

Im not in Surrey

Cheers
