Long story short, friend advertises a sofa for sale on Gumtree, and the first response he gets is from a man who clearly wants to have gay sex with him. The only picture posted was of the sofa, and the only words being 'Brand new great L-shaped sofa (still in packaging) for sale' and the location.

I'm intrigued (in a totally hetero way...).

Can't help there I'm afraid, although along similar lines yesterday on my way home from work, guy in black Toyota Yaris behind me, beeps his horn, I look in rear view, he's smiling and waving...I don't know him.... twice more...beep, wave...look, nope I don't know you.
I turn right at next roundabout he goes straight on, I look across and he's grinning like a loon...

Does a bright green Qubo send out the wrong idea?

Starting sentences with "So" is code for something, I haven't yet worked out what.

"L-Shaped" – bent double
"Sofa" – euphemism for ones posterior
"(still in packaging)" – nice and tight

Was the photo of the sofa including your mate in repose, with no clothes on with a massive boner and a placard saying "Free Bum Fun" ?

Really? Wow. Your gay mate might not be as gay as he makes out. Probably lusts after your missus on the sly.

I want to know the reply (just how obvious was it that your 'friend' had attracted a cruiser?)

Dunno, but I got chatted up in the pub by some bloke a while back. He was very persistent, told me he was a "bear" and then explained that this meant that he was a bearded gay man into other bearded gay men. Upon my pointing out that this was fine, but he was barking up the wrong tree because I may have been bearded at the time but I'm straight and unlike my state of facial hair that's not something I can change, even if I wanted to. "Oh but you're curious though" Er, no, not at all. He still carried on. I can only conclude that some gay men try it on anywhere they can. Bit like straight ones.

Think I've found the ad. Is this the description?

If so there does seem to be some mention of dancing and buttocks and snuggling in there!

This excellent sofa is still in the packaging and as much as I would love to keep it, my wife has also bought a sofa hours before I bought mine…. Thus she wins !!!

This beast of comfort is retailing at £620.00, however because it is clogging up my dancing space in the lounge it is being sold for cheap... to try get it to a loving home fast!

The sofa is also very comfy to snuggle into whilst watching a movie, balanced against also being perfect to sit whilst having a lengthy discussion about life and the complexities of the universe… I know this because my friend also owns one.

The height further caters as the perfect “stabiliser” to allow babies to hold onto whilst learning to stand, and the soft padding simultaneously prevents any danger of the baby hitting their head on hard objects – hence potentially stopping the development of the next Albert Einstein.

The dimensions of the sofa are (as this is important) 212cm (W) x 62cm (H) x 164cm (D)…. Basically meaning it is the perfect height to comfortably rest your buttocks on after a long day… one wouldn't have to fall to far before sitting and is not to low either… meaning standing is perfectly easy after as well.

Finally, as I do not own a van/truck/tractor/aircraft carrier or flying carpet (which would be awesome); the sofa will require pick-up, however I am very happy to help carry it to the vehicle of choice and give you a coke/beer after

Just thinking.... I'm sure if a lot of straight blokes got an offer for easy and quick gay sex, they would try it out, to see what it's like.

"L shaped"

As in L for Lick my arse as I rest my balls in your eyesockets.

Simple.

If he comes around to view it and you spot two pink poodles in tutus tied together in the street, you're deffo getting bummed.

Apparently if you park-up in a layby with your mirrors folded in, it is a signal to our homo friends.
