I was just mulling over what are those things that we associate with the UK and Britishness.

The smell of freshly cut grass, quiet country pubs that serve warm ale, Wimbledon ....and of course Marmite.

The belief that anyone, anywhere, in the World will be able to understand you if you can just shout at them loudly and slowly enough. It's just a question of talking to them in English at the correct volume....

I think that's entirely fair, until recently we did run most of the world. Precisely by shouting very loudly at the locals.

Confusing "Englishness" with "Britishness" - I find that terribly typical of the British (or is it the English?).

An inability to complain directly to the source of a problem.

Easily backed up by the number of threads on here where people want to complain about all sorts of things ranging from their neighbour/neighbour's pet & or kids, their boss, the landlord, the guy in the car dealership, the waiter, the valet etc etc etc.

  • Saying 'sorry' without meaning it
  • Trains - 'signaling failure' (lies)
  • Trying to show the dislike for 'Americans' while being so similar to them
It's not all that bad though smile

Perfect recall of wars and soccerball games we've won.
Not quite so hot on those we lost.

If you lump that in with general kinkyness and an obsession with out door shagging when the weathers nice I think that's true.
