I thought I'd start a thread where we can share techniques to questions or problems within mundane life, first world problems.

Here's my problem

I like dunking chocolate digestives in my tea (one for the council thread)? I try to split them into equal halves but rarely achieve this often ending up with 3 broken bits. So, is there a knack to the clean break of a biscuit?

Feel free to post up your conundrums too smile

That ones easy. Lie the biscuit on a flat hard surface (table/placemat/worktop etc)

Four fingers under the biscuit, thumb on top, roughly halfway across the biscuit's surface area.

Press down with your thumb. Nice clean break.

Chocolate side up so you only have to remove chocolate from a thumb instead of four fingers.

Three fingers of each hand on the underside as close to the centre as possible, thumbs approx 10mm in from the edge of the tasty treat on the topside. Push up with the fingers, not down with the thumbs, using just the thumbs as a resistance point.

You're welcome.

Don't try a laser cutter, doesn't work.

Meat cleaver. One good, solid stroke from behind the head and bam! Done. No cleaning chocolate off your fingers either.

I say, take off and and nuke the entire biscuit from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

If you don't have a mortar block, then the technique I use is to keep one eye on each side of the blade, rather than both on one side.

That looks like a Jaffa cake to me. Someone needs to try it on a chocolate digestive just to be sure. hehe

Chocolate Digestive trivia.....

The chocolate is on the underside of a digestive, not the top!
