I have some old slides of the TT in 1979 and I am trying to find some info on the bike/rider numbers, any idea where they could be found?

i have checked the TT website but it doesn't show the numbers just finish times

Maybe try contact somebody at MCN in the picture library?

MCN is nearly 60 years old so 1979 should be no problem.

There's a motorcycle nostalgia forum on autosport.com
you could ask there as well

I have started to upload the scans, the photos are all unedited and are uploaded as scanned, I will slowly go through and update the colour corrected versions etc as and when I get time (still have another 10,000 slides to scan!) click the link if you want to look

Just had a quick look, a couple of riders are recognisable - Charlie Williams and Tony Rutter. Charlie still does the commentary on Manx Radio, Tony is current racer Michael Rutter's dad.

Looks like a typical TT holiday, race days watching the racing from a hedge and days off doing normal touristy things - there's a few shots of Ned's home in the film Waking Ned.

There's a pic of Marine Drive (Castle type bridge over the coast road) - the road collapsed many years ago but I'd like to know if it was still complete when the photos were taken.

Just a HU, quite a few of the slides are reversed, obvious in some with car registrations/wipers etc but not so obvious in the scenery ones - such as the CBX1000 with Ramsey in the back ground - unless you've been there you wouldn't know the water's on the wrong side.

Thanks for sharing.
