Guess the mystery object!

Found this on the beach a few weeks ago. I've asked friends, family and sent photos to several beachcomber/mudlark forums but no one seems to know what this is. The bobble on the end is solid, but the rest is very thin copper (?). There is a join around the centre of the hollow section. It looks like it was once completely sealed. Any ideas?

That looks as if it may be some sort of small bomb. The bit on the end looks like a primer/detonator type thing. Other than that I have no idea.
