Another Blooming what shoe thread ish

Ok this is relevant to pistonheads, I hit a conundrum on Saturday, shorts weather here and usually I wear flip flops with shorts, but I hit a snag, I needed to drive somewhere (40miles), and of course im not driving in flip flops and didn't have any appropriately smart casual shoes to wear... I ended up wearing my deck shoes which are rather scruffy from messing around on boats.

So what shoes do you prefer to wear with casual/smart casual shorts?

Probably not the answer you want, but if I get in the car with my flip flops on I just kick them off, drive barefoot and put them back on when I get out of the car.
