I wanted to have a sensible, thoughtful insight into what present I should buy for a 1 year old boy whose birthday party i'm attending this Saturday.

However, failing that I decided to come here instead and ask for the PH opinion biggrin

What would y'all recommend?

somehting nice from the early learning centre or mothercare (the ages are very accurate: a toy for a one year old will be played with by a one year old

And maybe a Hornby or scalextric catalogue. A bit of fun, pictures of trains and cars to see, pages to rip. Start 'em young!!

Something wooden, or Duplo.

Lego products are the only plastic things I don't routinely sweep into the bin. Oh and Playmobil. Basically, no horrible plastic tat from Poundland or B&M "Bargains". The parents will thank you.

Massive Lego Techmic set. Then you and the boy's father can spend your time putting it together to make sure it's all there and in good working order while the girls gossip about small children.

Big empty cardboard box, kids that age tend to have more fun climbing in and out the packaging than they do with what was inside laugh

Air rifle
Black widow catapult
Bottle of rum

He'll thank you when he's older, his parents probably won't.

Are you going on your own and have you actually been invited?

A certain dental nurse isn't going, is she?
