I've made the mistake of proposing to the wench and now I need to suffer the consequences. (jk looking forward to it really...)

Going to ask my buddy to be best man but dont know how to do it. Naturally like any man with a dilemma would Ive turned here.

I want to do something decent and amusing as a lot of people I know have just given their best man a cigar/whiskey and some other crap but my mate doesn't drink (much) or smoke and hes like me in that he will probably appreciate something a bit childish.

Ideas welcomed with thanks! (please help me out).

"Hey best mate, can you be my best man please? I'm just asking because I don't want to be one of those massive bellends that thinks every single thing needs to be an "event" or something that can be put on youinstafacebooker, mainly because i'm not a needy social media we"

No need to thank me.

Oh and congrats. Hope that the bride to be is the brains of the family.

Maybe just take him out for a beer and ask him? Not exactly hard.

Erm, just ask him, it really isn't that difficult or are you socially awkward?

Would you like to be a bridesmaid at my wedding?

Well, I suppose you could be the best man then.

Or go with the tattooed ärse option

I don't really get it. You can ask your girlfriend to marry you but you need to come here to ask your mate to be your best man? confused

Just ask him. As in he knows you're getting married I assume, so "Would you like to be my best man?".

"Admittedly, you are my second, no third, choice but would you like to be my Best Man? If it's any help in your decision, her younger sister is going to be a bridesmaid and she's quite hot. If you're drunk."

.. with Mongolian dyslexic theme.

..

That and just ask him. Send a text. It's gives the person at the receiving end the chance to say ' oh fkstixks ' and then a chance to compose themselves before they reply.

Haha I get what people are saying so far, and I sort of agree OP - if he's truly a best mate, and bearing in mind that we're 'blokes' here and don't do sentimentality, then I would imagine that just asking, bereft of drama and occasion, would be fine.

In fact it would probably be no problem to just even do it over the phone...it will probably just be a 'oh, yeah mate....no worries!'

However if you must stick with something a wee bit more dramatic, then why not go for something slightly different from the usual go out for a beer thing, and grab him and take him off to a decent burger joint for an agreeable lunch feed?

I can think of one or two occasions when I've wanted to ask a favour / discuss something or pick the brains of friends or my Brother, and the burger lunch has always been a winner for me to be able to do that. Can't think of an occasion when it hasn't worked either!

Best of luck

Take him out for a nice meal, somewhere expensive, low lights etc. Afterwards, back to a hotel room for a sensual massage and satisfy him completely, followed by asking 'Mate, want to be my best man?'

I'm not having a best man, because I think it's pointless, but if I was, just ask them, simple as that.
