Morning.

I am currently selling a high value autograph on eBay, and have just had a 0 feedback buyer win the item. This item sold for £300 and the bidder messaged me prior to winning the item asking "Is this item a genuine autograph, or a reprint?"

The buyer has paid for the item via PayPal, but I am concerned that the buyer will raise a claim via PayPal stating it is not genuine, as described, damaged, not received etc.

The buyers name, and name on the PayPal email addresses are also different and I am worried about getting scammed.

What's peoples thoughts, and has any similar experiences using eBay?

Thanks.

It smells wrong. I'd cancel the sale & re-list when you have set your preferences to only allow bids from those with a certain number of positive feedbacks.

buyers that ask questions after buying an item, tend to be messers. chances are they will make a dispute, lose the money and a good chance of losing the item.I,d relist collection only with cash.

But the winner asked before the item ended, so there's that.

It'll probably be fine. Just make sure you take lots of detailed photos before shipping and that it's sent via a tracked and insured method.

Cancel it, eBay is the easiest place in the world to be scammed as a seller, all he has to do is say it's a fake, eBay make you pay for return postage, he sends back a fake and the money is automatically taken back out of your account and there is nothing you can do about it.

Thanks for the advice folks. I have cancelled the auction, and given him a full refund.

The negative feedback is thoroughly deserved. The OP sold an item through eBay & reneged on the deal.

This. OP had the option to change the auction settings to exclude 0 feedback buyers but chose not to.

The 'buyer' has just received two negative feedbacks for other purchases where he has claimed the item is not as described after purchase.

I thoroughly deserve any negative feedback for being on the ball and not getting ripped off. smile

Not possible for a seller to leave a buyer negative feedback so not sure what you mean there?

Probably 'neutral' feedback which warns off others from dealing with them.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet. eBay scams are so frustrating.
