I did it once by accident but I got better!


In response to the OP, in theory if it was so sharp the momentum of the swing would slice clean through I suppose you could. Actually hacking at your own neck repeatedly is probably not likely to be possible.

I managed to use a claw hammer to remove a nail from a plank of wood and insert it neatly under the skin just beneath the bicep of my opposite arm, all in one smooth action with no blood.

No. According to Albert Pierrepoint, the force required to execute a person by hanging (clean dislocation between 3rd & 4th cervical vertebrae) was a whole 1,100 lb/ft. Apparently, exceeding 1,400 lb/ft would cause decapitation, depending on build/neck strength.

Even if the sword was razor sharp you'd never muster the required force, particularly for cutting/shearing bone.
